FAQ: I just completed the 40-hour MI pre-license course, now what?

I just completed the 40-hour MI pre-license course, now what?

Once you complete the 40-hour pre-license course, you are now ready to submit your Michigan real estate license application through iCOLA.

First, you must create a free iCOLA account. Once your account is created, you can then submit your license application and pay the required fee through your iCOLA account. Your sponsoring broker may then enter in to their own iCOLA account to confirm your sponsorship.
Once LARA approves your license application, they will send you an email notifying you that you are authorized to register for the state licensing exam. The email will include your six-digit exam candidate number (MIRE number), which you will have to provide to PSI when you register for the state exam.

You are then ready to take the state licensing exam through PSI. You can schedule your state exam online through PSI's website or by phone at (800)733-9267.

Please note, you have up to three years to apply for your real estate license from the date you complete the 40-hour pre-license course to the date LARA receives your license application.
Once your license application is submitted, you have up to one year to pass the state exam and have a sponsoring broker confirm your employment.
