How to Get a Real Estate License in GA Online


In the state of Georgia, you must be at least 18 years of age with proof of high school graduation or equivalent to earn your license.

Step #1: Complete the 75-hour real estate license course in Georgia

Every state has its own educational requirements. Real estate license schools provide courses tailored to meet the states’ requirements. In Georgia, you must complete a 75-hour course approved by the state’s industry commission, as well as exam prep.

Step #2: Complete a background check

The next step will be completing a background check. The Georgia Crime Information Center can provide a report of your criminal history which you will have to report to a local sheriff’s office or police department.

Step #3: Complete Your Salesperson Licensing Exam

Once you’ve completed your course, you will have to pass the salesperson licensing exam. There is a $115 exam fee paid to GREC (the Georgia Real Estate Commission).

Step #4: Apply for Your State License

The fourth and final step is applying for your state license. You must apply within 12 months of completing the exam and work with a sponsoring broker. Your sponsoring broker will hold your license and split your commission fees in exchange for resources such as salesperson training or office space.

Step #5: Renew Your License

After you’ve started practicing as a real estate agent, you will have to renew your license regularly. To do so, you may also have to complete continuing education requirements.

General Information About the Georgia Real Estate License Online Course

Course Structure

Here is how the course is structured:

  • The Georgia Real Estate License Online course includes 75-hour audio lessons.
  • The course begins with an orientation.
  • The course consists of chapters, which are further broken down into lessons.
  • Lessons primarily consist of an audio lecture with related key terms below. Lessons may also include an infographic/diagram or a supporting document.
  • At the end of each chapter is a multiple choice quiz. You must answer at least 70% of the questions correctly in order to advance to the next chapter.
  • After completing the last chapter in the course, you will be eligible to take the course final exam.
  • The final exam is proctored and password protected. Your proctor will type in the final exam password so you can start you exam.
  • After passing the final exam, you will receive your Certificate of Completion.

Final Exam Procedures

The course final exams can conveniently be taken online from the comfort of your own home.
Here is what you need to know about the course final exams:

  • The final exams are proctored online by ProctorU.
  • There are 2 versions of the final exam. You must pass one of the versions.
  • Each final exam consists of 100, multiple-choice questions.
  • Passing Grade: 75%
  • You have 200 minutes to complete each exam.
  • The exam is NOT open book.
  • In order to access the final exam, a proctoring password is required. You will have to reserve your exam date with ProctorU who will then enter the proctoring password at the time of your exam.
  • A proctoring fee of $15 will apply for each attempt at taking the final exam. The proctoring fee is payable directly to ProctorU.
  • Rather than having students drive to a proctoring location for each exam, they can take their exams from home with the services of ProctorU. The online proctoring services ultimately provide students with much more convenience, as they don't have to physically travel for each exam.
  • The State only allows up to 2 attempts at the final exam. If you fail both attempts you will have to retake the entire course before being able to retake your final exam.

Course Completion Time

  • Students have 12 months to complete the 75-hour course (including the final exam) starting from the time of purchase.

Refund Policy
